Chris Boucher

BIOGRAPHY

Chris Boucher is a forward-center and multiple time NBA champion for the Toronto Raptors. Born in Castries, Saint Lucia, Boucher moved to Montreal, Canada when he was five years old. Boucher spent most of his childhood in Montreal playing hockey and soccer. In 2012, he was offered a spot on a tournament basketball team and showed off his potential in the sport, scoring 44 points in the final game. He was then offered a spot at a prep school and began to love and play basketball. Boucher started his college basketball career in junior college, where he performed at a high level and began to draw interest from many top Division 1 schools. After his sophomore year, Boucher committed to play for the University of Oregon, where he excelled for the remainder of his collegiate career. He averaged 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds during his two-year career for the Ducks. As a senior, he was named to the Pac-12 Defensive Team after leading the conference in blocks with 2.6 per game and helped lead Oregon to the 2017 Final Four, their first appearance in 78 years.

Boucher was unable to participate in pre-draft workouts due to a torn ACL he suffered in the Pac-12 Conference Tournament, and therefore went undrafted. He went on to sign a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors and spent time between the team and their G-League affiliate, ultimately winning his first NBA championship with the franchise in 2018. In July 2018, Boucher signed with the Raptors and established himself in the league during the 2018-19 season. Boucher would go on to be named the G League 2018-2019 Most Valuable Player and the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player to win both awards concurrently. The Raptors excelled to the 2019 NBA Finals, where they defeated Boucher’s former team (Golden State Warriors), cementing Boucher as the first Canadian player to win an NBA title with the league’s one Canadian based franchise. Since the 2019 season, Boucher has established himself as one of the stalwarts of the Raptors lineup, most recently playing in 80 games during the 2021-22 season. After signing a three-year contract during the 2022 offseason, Boucher is excited to remain a part of the Toronto community. Boucher has a passion for giving back to his community, most recently hosting basketball camps for children in London and Ottawa, participating in Amazon’s Delivering Smiles campaign, and organizing a backpack and school supplies distribution for underprivileged youth in Montreal. Ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, Boucher officially launched his own nonprofit charity, the SlimmDuck Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to provide access to meaningful educational and athletic opportunities for youth in underserved communities throughout Canada with a particular focus on Montreal and Toronto.

The SlimmDuck Foundation is committed to helping students reach their academic and educational goals by providing resources and removing barriers. The Foundation works to provide school supplies, backpacks, apparel and other items to children as they start a new school year, while continuing to identify initiatives that support entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and more. The Foundation is also committed to growing and enhancing youth athletic participation through the game of basketball. The Foundation hosts free basketball camps and tournaments, where Boucher is hands-on leading drills and games with participants. Finally, the SlimmDuck Foundation will provide basic necessities year-round to youth and families in need. The Foundation works with local restaurants and chefs to distribute nutritious meals to families and will also help alleviate family hardship during the holidays by providing gifts and toys to those less fortunate.
